Cross Culture Diversity Teachers Training SMSC - Cultural Awareness is developed through the Life skills program, Community Skills and through the Learning and Teaching Policy.

  • The Continuing Professional Development will be offered through twilight, half day and whole day sessions and will provide access to ideas and resources which will enable teacher innovation and progression in this field.
  • When applying we ask the school / college if they would prefer a talk that is ‘general’ or ‘specialised’.
  • ‘General’ talks might best suit a large group of students (perhaps an assembly) interested in a general inspirational talk, whereas ‘specialised’ talks might work best for a smaller group (perhaps 30 – 50 students) that has an interest in - depth talk on the speaker’s area of expertise – i.e. Time and Seasons, SMSC early childhood Culture in Primary school, astronomy solar lunar calendar sciences.

  • Faith community Christain, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim etc, their history geography culture format.

  • Citizenship – all of the workshops allow pupils to explore rights and responsibilities, advocacy and representation, taking informed and responsible action and playing an active role as citizens

  • There is no single recommended way of using the resource, which is intended as a template. It can be used in different ways that suit the particular requirements of the institution, department or individual.

  • Cultural awareness training can take a number of forms, there can be training days and classroom style workshops or you can study your course online. All of them having the same objective, basically to improve race relations.
